I just heard on KGO that if you install an electric attic fan it can 1) cool your house by about 10° and 2) “save your roof”. I know you have vents, but their point electric fans on a thermostat.
Would this help with the power bill at Knowland? I remember the upper half of Knowland (or, the 1979 add-on to the house) was always warmer than the cool lower half.
Perhaps this doesn’t apply to anyone since you never use air conditioning. They’re talking about this on KGO because, I guess it’s pretty hot in the Bay right now (just heard, right now, it is 85° in Oakland.)

Dude, it is so hot here. Carol and I are going to the city to cool off.
It’s 85° in Chuxiong everyday now, plus the nice tropical storms that seem to never stop in the summer, meaning it rains at least once a day now. That’s great for humidity. Okay. Later.
DAMN IT’S HOT, but I’m glad we don’t have constant humidity.
We hit 110°F this weekend at home.. hella hot. I wrote more here: http://ericthompson.org/2006/07/hot-hot-hot/
KGO said if you’re hot, put a cold towel on your forehead and put your feet in a bucket of cold water. They said this will cool you down more than any level of A/C blasting on you.
Although this idea is good, it completely immobilizes you. I guess it’s for people who cannot afford the high cost of A/C.
A wonderful post. Home improvement is very important for the confidence of the people living in the house. Every detail matters and has to be perfect.
